Tila Rubini

Tila Rubini, stage name of Colombian painter Juanita Rubio Matiz, was born in 1962 in Bogota . From a very young age she has developed a great interest in art. In 1980, she began her education first in New York and then in Milan, where she obtained a diploma as Designer at the Polytechnic School of Industrial Design.

After completing her studies, Tila choose to stay in Europe and in 1986 she moved to Switzerland , where she still leaves and where she considers her second home. Here, she began her career as an independent artist, exhibiting her paintings in several galleries throughout the Canton Ticino.

In Tila’s work, the influence of her colorful Colombian origins blends with a more European style, enriched by the impression gathered in her travels, which often become the subjects of her paintings. The most common techniques used by the artist are oil, acrylic and ink on canvas and paper.
